For some , length matters

Good Morning Cuties,

If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for long hair and always have. Even as a child I had waist-length hair. Well, our hair grows at different speeds and different thicknesses but there are a few things I have learned over the years to grow and maintain length. Not all of the emphasis and efforts should be on growth as what I have noticed is that my hair grows super quick but isn't always reflected in the overall length because of BREAKAGE!

Breakage is why it appears your hair isn't growing or you aren't achieving the length you desire. It's often not that it isn't growing but that the ends are breaking keeping it at the same length which is mega frustrating and why we gotta keep our ends moisturized and out of harm's way.

In addition to growth and breakage, just like our body and our skin, our hair quality is affected by what is going on inside nutrition and stress- wise. If you're stressed or have poor nutrition or gut health, well, that may be reflected in the quality of your hair. In addition to a healthy diet and stress management, if you are not doing laser hair removal, vitamin B is your best friend and hair growth supplements like BIOSIL really do work. I say this because I used them for about 1 year until my laser tech asked why my body hair was growing. Oops.

Ok, now for the topical tricks, firstly, it is important you use decent shampoo and conditioner formulated for your hair type and I'd suggest you ask your hair stylist for suggestions. I recently tested Pantene Pro V and instantly loved it until weeks later I realized my hair was getting dry and the ends were breaking. SO ANNOYING! All that work on maintaining length to be stunted in a matter of weeks.

Then I do little things like :

  • A treatment mask twice a week like Olaplex or your fave brand.
  • A hair oil treatment when feeling dry.
  • Rinse conditioner in cold water to seal it in.
  • Limit the use of all hot tools. no dryer or irons.
  • Limit hair coloring. The less you chemically dye your hair the better.
  • Clip it up at night.

The key is to keep the shaft and ends protected and moisturized. If your hair feels dry and brittle it is probably going to break which prevents the length from increasing therefore, your hair keeps growing but looks like it never does!
